PdfCraft PDF tool: an independent status page

PdfCraft is a PDF workbench: read, organize, combine, split and secure PDFs, with comments, forms, redaction, basic digital signatures, printing and an accessibility checker. It runs as a native desktop app and in the browser.

Official status: Early alpha, per the official Crafting Apps directory (checked October 12, 2026). Category: PDF workbench.

• Easiest route per the README: download from the official PdfCraft page, or pick a specific build from the GitHub releases page — macOS, Windows, Linux (AppImage, Flatpak, .deb, .rpm, tarball), FreeBSD and web, with SHA256SUMS.txt checksums.
• From source: clone the repository and run `cargo run --release -p pdfcraft -- some.pdf` (the README requires Rust 1.95 or newer).

• The README’s own "Where it stands (October 2026), honestly": alpha — converting and sharing is weak (no Office-to-PDF, Word export loses layout), and editing existing text (especially CJK and right-to-left), OCR beyond Latin, Preflight/PDF-X/UA, Windows printing and full XFA forms are thin or missing.
• Pages are currently drawn by the borrowed `hayro` crate while the team’s own renderer is being built (README, What’s next).
• Fuzzing still turns up crashes and hangs on hostile files; quality has not yet been compared side by side with Acrobat (README, What’s next).
